“This connection and appreciation for the natural world offers a place to emotionally process life, my studio provides a place to express it.”

Bio

Growing up in the outskirts of Philadelphia, as a child I traveled to Colorado discovering the beauty and wild landscapes of the Midwest by way of my grandparent’s camper. By High School I knew that Colorado would become my home and moved to Boulder earning a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Design in 1987.

Immediately following graduation, I worked for Hewlett Packard as a Design Engineer observing the office environment and the influence on employee’s behavior and performance. Following several successful implementations, I enrolled in graduate school and in 2001 received my M.F.A. with a focus on emotive installations and sculptures.

Currently working at Art Parts and an active member of the local art community I exhibit my work at numerous venues and volunteer for local art programs. In 2015 I was honored to receive the Boulder Open Studios Tour People’s Choice Award and in 2022 the NOBO Art Districts’ People’s Choice Award.

Residing in Boulder County with my husband and children I continue to appreciate Colorado’s beauty by hiking, biking, camping and climbing the occasional tree.

Statement

My artwork is a result of how I process the world. When an experience, event or idea is emotionally compelling I visualize how this feels and conceptually play with my materials. Once the narrative, the backbone of a piece, is formulated the work evolves into its physical expression.

I discovered the beauty in the materials’ potential power when applied in certain contexts. Through the juxtaposition of all my materials, as with a journal, I write what I see and sense, referencing time, history, pain, power, connection, healing, beauty. I have created an artistic language with the intention to visually capture and articulate our internal and external worlds.
